SPIRITUAL LIFE

Values and Spiritual Development

Asia-Pacific International University is concerned about the spiritual life of the students and the community. The University Church is situated on the highest point of the campus, providing a focus for all spiritual activities, and denoting that religious worship and related activities are given a high priority by the institution. As a Christian institution the University integrates regular religious worship and religious activities into the semester program.

Worship services are held on Friday evening (vespers) and on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am and 10:30 am for students and the campus community. A chapel service is held at 10:00 am each Wednesday during the semester.

In addition to the corporate times of worship described above, Asia-Pacific International University's students are also encouraged to develop a personal religious faith. To encourage such growth, less formal worship services are held in mornings at 7:00 am and in the evenings at 7:00 pm in the dormitories or other arranged venues. Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm the campus family groups meet and each Friday at 8:00 pm there is a worship program for the different ethnical groups on campus.

Besides this, prayer bands (small groups) are sometimes arranged spontaneously by motivated students or faculties. Other religious activities are occasionally organized and presented by students, many of whom are gifted in music and drama.

Our Mission

Asia-Pacific International University Seventh-day Adventist Church is committed to joyful corporate worship that glorifies God, nurturing and equipping the congregation to reach out with God's grace to the campus and surrounding communities.

What is a Church?

A local church is a community of Christians who worship, fellowship and work together to accomplish God’s purposes.

“The church is God's appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organized for service, and its mission is to carry the gospel to the world.” – Ellen White

The church is like a family. It is a place of caring and belonging; a place of challenge and growth. Church members are expected to maintain a daily personal connection with God and regular connections with each other. We meet each week for small group Bible study, prayer meetings, and worship. There are also regular outreach activities that give church members opportunities to serve the wider community.

The University Church is one of many local churches throughout the world which are part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are committed to worldwide unity.

Welcome to the Asia-Pacific International University Seventh-day Adventist Church.  We are a diverse family of faith—students, faculty, staff, and members of the community—united by our common love for Jesus Christ.  It is my privilege to serve as pastor to this amazing congregation.

We are first and foremost a university church—here to serve the needs of our university family.  But our vision also includes reaching out to the wider community—being Christ’s body and doing His work in the world.

Please join us for worship!  “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (Psalm 34:8).

Campus Ministries Program

In Reach

  • Wednesday Chapel – Chapel worship is an important part of campus spiritual life. Weekly, the whole campus comes together for worship and a Biblical message.
  • Friday Vespers – Every Friday evening students gather at 7:00 pm for a spiritual program. Guest speakers, musical performances, drama presentations, testimonials and prayer make up the Friday evening spiritual programming at Asia-Pacific International University. Vespers is a good time to pause to reload from the busy week and enjoy the Sabbath.
  • Small Group Fellowship - Each semester there are small groups devoted to prayer and or Bible study. These groups meet in dorms, classrooms and in the community. If you would like to join one but are not sure how to start, contact the Chaplain's Office. Small groups often sing some songs and then we have a message from the Bible.
  • Personal Bible Studies – We also offer personal Bible studies for students who would like to know more about God, but in a more systematic and comprehensive study of the Bible. If you would like to join, please feel free to contact with the Chaplain’s Office to make an appointment.
  • Festival of Faith – Each semester, the university comes together for a week of spiritual emphasis. We usually have a guest speaker come to our campus for this special event.
  • Adventist Youth Community "The aim of this group is to equip youth leaders and workers in helping the youth they serve grow in their relationship with Jesus; develop a deeper understanding of His will and intention for their lives; and experience a commitment to Jesus that will last a lifetime."  For more information, please visit the Youth Ministries Department of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Out Reach

  • Branch Sabbath School – Each Sabbath after church, we have Branch Sabbath School ministries with the surrounding community. If you are interested, just meet outside of the cafeteria at 1:30 pm each Saturday. For more information, please contact Mr. Alwyn Chacko at alwyn@apiu.edu
  • Community Outreach Project – Each semester, we have a community project organized by different groups in collaboration with the Chaplain’s Office. If you are interested to do some community outreach project, please contact Pr. Kosin Chanpisut at kosin@apiu.edu
  • The Seekers – "The main objective of this ministry is to seek, learn, and fellowship in a Christian environment, which includes sharing the Good News of Jesus to non-Christian students at Asia-Pacific International University."
