Application Requirements

NEW STUDENT APPLICANTS

A freshman and or a non-transfer student must submit the following documents before their application can be processed:

  1. A fully completed and signed Application Form. The AIU online application is available at www.apiu.edu
  2. An official transcript indicating the satisfactory completion of secondary or high school from accredited schools/institutions.
  3. Certified copies of any external or school leaving examination such as M6, MCE/SPM, GCE - ‘A' or ‘O” Level, SMA, or university entrance matriculation examination.
  4. Two recommendation letters.
  5. A recent photographs (white or blue background). 
    • Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm: 4 photos (for the application & student administration purpose)
    • Size 4 cm x 6 cm (passport size): 10 photos (for the visa extension purpose)
  6. A copy of passport: personal page information (International applicant).
  7. Copies of citizenship ID and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
  8. A certificate of English Proficiency:
    • International English language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0 with no individual band score below 4.5.
    • Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500- paper based, 173- computer based, and 61-internet based.
    • Michigan Test of English Language proficiency (MTELP) with a minimum equated score of 82.
  9. A valid and Current Medical Certificate.
  10. Payment of non-refundable application: 300 Baht
  11. A copy of Baptismal Certificate (Only for Adventist applicants).

 

POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS

Postgraduate applicants must submit the following documents before their application can be processed:

  1. Completed and signed application for admission.
  2. Official transcript indicating the satisfactory completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher from all accredited Colleges and Universities.
  3. Certified copy of Bachelor’s degree diploma.
  4. Two (2) Recommendation letters.
  5. One recent photograph: 3x4 cm (white background).
  6. Copy of passport: personal page information (International applicant).
  7. Copy of citizenship and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
  8. English Proficiency Scores
    - IELTS with a minimum score of 5.0 or TOEFL score of 500 or above (MBA program)
    - IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 550 or above (M Ed program)
  9. Payment of non-refundable application: 600 Baht.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS

A transfer student must submit the required application materials before their application can be processed:

  1. A fully completed and signed Application Form. The AIU online application is available at www.apiu.edu
  2. Official transcripts from all accredited degree-granting Colleges and Universities previously attended.
  3. Certified copies of school leaving certificate.
  4. Two recommendation letters.
  5. A recent photographs (white or blue background).
    • Size 3.5cm x 4.5 cm: 4 photos (for the application & student administration purpose)
    • Size 4cm x 6 cm (passport size): 4 photos (for the visa extension purpose)
  6. A copy of passport: personal page information (International applicant).
  7. Copies of citizenship ID and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
  8. A certificate of English Proficiency (if English is not a medium of instruction in the previous school).
  9. A Medical Certificate.
  10. A copy of Baptismal Certificate (SDA applicant).
  11. Payment of non-refundable application: 300 Baht.

Where transcripts, school certificates and medical certificates are not in English, they need to be accompanies by a certified English translation.
An applicant wishing to transfer to Asia-Pacific International University from another institution of higher learning should meet the general entrance requirements of the University and present their official transcripts at the time of application.

Step 2

On receiving notification that all documents have been received and approved; an advance foreign student travel deposit (refundable) will be requested. This advance deposit will be held in reserve on your account until you leave Asia-Pacific International University.

* required deposit amount of 10,000; 20,000; and 60,000 baht depending on student’s home distance from Thailand.

 

Step 3

When the applicant’s financial arrangements have been approved, a letter of acceptance will be mailed in order for you to obtain the student visa. Prior to coming to Thailand, you will need a STUDENT VISA with SINGLE ENTRY.

Online Applications

We welcome applications from, and admit, individuals regardless of race, gender, status or religious affiliation. A policy of selective admission is followed, however, based on the applicant’s former scholastic achievement, character recommendations, and the passing of entrance examinations. Admission to, and continuation at, Asia-Pacific International University is dependent on evidence of good character, intellectual competence, support for the philosophy and mission of the University and an expressed willingness to conform to University regulations.

Criteria for Admissions

To qualify for admission to undergraduate degree courses, applicants are expected to have satisfactorily completed secondary high school (i.e. the accumulation of 12 years of schooling), see Admission procedure for more details. An undergraduate degree is required for admissions to masters programs, see Graduate Studies Admission Criteria for more details.

Criterias based on educational systems:

Graduate Admissions

A Bachelor’s degree in Education or Business or related discipline with at least 15 credit points of education courses or 12 credit points of Business courses and having a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (M Ed and MBA programs).

Required Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following documents before their application can be processed:

  1. Completed and signed application for admission.
  2. Official transcript indicating the satisfactory completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher from all accredited Colleges and Universities.
  3. Certified copy of Bachelor’s degree diploma.
  4. CV and professional working experience in a field related to the area of intended study.
  5. Two (2) Recommendation letters.
  6. One recent photograph: 3x4 cm (white background).
  7. Copy of passport: personal page information (International applicant).
  8. Copy of citizenship and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
  9. English Proficiency Scores
    - IELTS with a minimum score of 5.0 or TOEFL score of 500 or above (MBA program)
    - IELTS with a minimum score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 550 or above (M Ed program)
  10. Payment of non-refundable application: 600 Baht.

Detailed Academic Criteria for Admissions

Thailand:

The academic criteria for admission to degree courses for residents of Thailand are based on the satisfactory completion of secondary school and the achievement of the Matriculation Certificate (M6) from an accredited school with a cumulative grade point average equivalent of at least 2.00 in a four point system.

Member countries of the British Commonwealth:

5 GCE O level (or equivalent) pass with a C or credit grade. One of the passes must be in English, even though the medium of instruction may be otherwise.

Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka:

A 12-year of High School Certificate (secondary school) or 5 GCE O level (or equivalent) passes with a C or credit grade. One of the passes must be in English, even though the medium of instruction may be otherwise.

China:

A satisfactory completion of Senior Middle School or Vocational or Technical school school (i.e. the accumulation of 12 years of schooling). An applicant must present the national entrance examination results or Gaokao.

Hong Kong:

HKDSE 3 passes in the range of A-C and 2 others with D or E. The aggregate in the 5 subjects may not exceed 19 in the best 5 subjects.

Indonesia:

SMA or SMEA or SMK with a minimum total grade of 70 and pass the national exams.

Japan and Korea:

A satisfactory completion of Senior High School or Upper Secondary School (Grade 12).

Nepal:

A satisfactory completion of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) and 5 IGCSE or GCE O level passes with a C or credit grade. One of the passes must be in English, even though the medium of instruction may be otherwise.

Myanmar and the Philippines:

5 or more IGCSE or GCE O level passes with a C or credit grade. One of the passes must be in English, even though the medium of instruction may be otherwise.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos:

A satisfactory completion of the 12-year of High School Certificate.

America or countries using the American system:

A satisfactory completion of the Secondary High School with a minimum GPA of 2.00.

Europe Countries:

A satisfactory completion of German Abitur, Finnish Matriculation Certificate, Italian Maturita, Danish Studentereksamen, French Baccalaureate II, Federal Swiss Maturity Certificate.

The submission of standardized or syndicated examination results such as IGCSE, GCE or GED should be submitted along with evidence of school attendance and the satisfactory completion of the normal required number of years of secondary schooling. A GED examination result will not normally be accepted for admission as a substitute for attending and completing year 11 and 12 of high school.

Policy on Recognition of Prior Learning

General Information

1. Transfer credits will not be marked on their record until they have completed at least 15 credits with a GPA of 2.00 or higher.

2. The credits earned must be essentially equivalent in quality and quantity to the courses to be substituted for the program of Asia-Pacific International University. Students must provide the University with a catalogue, bulletin, or course outlines from the institution that they previously attended.

3. Only courses with a grade ‘C’ or higher can be transferred. Transfer credits are not calculated into the student’s GPA.

4. A transfer student must meet APIU’s residence requirements and complete at least 36 credits at Asia-Pacific International University and do a minimum of 12 upper division semester credits in his/her major field of study.

5. Asia-Pacific International University does not accept students from other institution on academic probation or suspension.
