PERMITHA Days Brings AIU Indonesian Students into a Wider Community

The Indonesian Club at Asia-Pacific International University continues to strengthen its presence beyond campus through active involvement in Permitha Days, an annual gathering organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok. The event brings together Indonesian student communities from fifteen universities across Thailand, creating a space for cultural connection, friendly competition, and national pride.

This year’s program took place from 26 October to 16 November at the Indonesian Embassy. More than 160 students joined, and AIU sent a dedicated group of eleven participants who competed in four categories: Vocal Solo, Esports Mobile Legends, Badminton, and English Speech.

AIU students delivered a strong performance. Jolina Gan earned first place in English Speech. The AIU Mobile Legends team secured first place in a difficult bracket. Melody Tumalun placed third in Solo Vocal. AIU’s badminton doubles team finished third in their category. Their achievements reflect consistent preparation and a commitment to representing AIU with excellence.

Beyond the competition, the experience offered something more meaningful. Students connected with peers from universities across Thailand, discovering shared stories, diverse perspectives, and a sense of Indonesian unity that extends beyond their own campus. Conversations opened naturally as students learned about each other’s backgrounds, studies, and personal experiences studying abroad.

The organizers also arranged the event schedule so AIU participants could fully observe Sabbath. This gesture prompted sincere dialogue about Adventist beliefs, allowing students to share their values in a setting that encouraged curiosity and respect. In the process, the event became both a cultural exchange and a moment of spiritual representation.

Permitha Days highlighted how AIU’s Indonesian students are stepping confidently into the broader Indonesian student community in Thailand. Their participation strengthened connections, built friendships, and showed how AIU continues to grow its presence in regional student engagement.
