Admission Information
ESL Program
Admission Criteria
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for ESL program:
- High school graduation diploma (for degree courses continuation)
- Middle school certificate completion (for non-degree courses)

Step 2
On receiving notification that all documents have been received and approved; an advance foreign student deposit will be requested. This advance deposit will be held in reserve in your account until you leave Asia-Pacific International University.
* Required deposit amount of 10,000 20,000 or 40,000 Baht depending on student’s home distance from Thailand.
Step 3
When the applicant’s financial arrangements have been approved, a letter of acceptance will be mailed in order for you to obtain the student visa. Prior to coming to Thailand, you will need a STUDENT VISA with SINGLE ENTRY.
Application Documents
A freshman applicant must submit the following documents before their application can be processed:
- A fully completed and signed Application Form. The AIU online application is available below this page.
- Certified copies of High School certificate of graduation from accredited schools/institutions.
- An official (or certified copy) academic transcript (for degree courses continuation).
- Two recommendation letters.
- A recent photograph (white background – applicant wear a white collared shirt)
– 4 cm x 6 cm: 10 photos - A copy of the passport: personal information page (International applicant).
- Copies of citizenship ID and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
- A Medical Certificate (not required for short-term study).
- A copy of the Baptismal Certificate (SDA applicant only).
- Payment of non-refundable application: 300 Baht
Remark: where transcript and school certificates are not in English, attach an English translation notarized by an embassy and or another appropriate office (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) officially approved by the government.
Tuition and Fees
The following schedule of charges is provided so that students who live within the territory of the Southeast Asian Union Mission of Seventh-day Adventists (the countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) can calculate the cost of education in advance and arrange to finance their study program. The rates are adjusted annually to reflect changing economic conditions in Thailand.

Non-Regional Students
Students from countries beyond the regional countries of Southeast Asia previously named, details are available from the Admissions and Records office () or use the Cost Calculator.
Others
- Electricity charges are metered on an individual student room basis. Usage exceeding 100 Baht per month is charged to the rooms’ occupants.
- Electricity charges for independent hot water units are metered and the charge is shared among the suite mates.
- The married student housing charge does not include utility charges. Occupants should plan for charges for water and electricity usage.
Refundable Deposits
Certain deposits are required for security purposes. These deposits are refundable six working days after the time a student withdraws from the University and a financial clearance statement has been completed if there are no outstanding damage or loss claims that need to be settled.
Financial Arrangements and Terms of Payment
Students are required to obtain financial clearance from the Student Finance Office before or during registration. Without this financial clearance, students are not permitted to attend class. Payments can be made by way of draft, check, money order, credit card online payment, wire
transfer, interbank transfer and cash denominated either in Thai Baht or US dollars. Cash payments are made only at the Cash Receipts window.
Several payment options are available to meet the financial needs of students as follows:
- Payment of the full-year’s account in full during first semester registration. For this, a 5% tuition discount is granted. This 5% discount will be calculated on the total tuition for the year net of other tuition scholarships, subsidies or bursaries.
- Payment of the semester’s account in full upon registration.
- A payment plan that has been approved by the Student Finance Officer. This payment plan may not extend beyond the end of the semester or a student’s planned graduation date:

Campus Work-Study Program
Asia-Pacific International University provides work opportunities to enable students to help finance their study. Work opportunities, however, are limited and in granting work assignments preference will be given to students who need work as part of their financial plan. The amount of work assigned depends on the student’s financial need as well as class load and academic performance. In general, ESL, Freshmen and Sophomores work on the grounds, cafeteria or plant services.
Undergraduate Program
Admission Criteria
Regular admission is granted to students who have completed high school with a CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent, have demonstrated adequate proficiency in English and are mentally healthy and of good moral character. Students who have completed high school but have a CGPA of less than 2.00 will be given a provisional status. They will be granted regular admission status once they have achieved a CGPA of 2.00 or above at Asia-Pacific International University. Students who fail to obtain a CGPA of 2.00 after three semesters in the university will be asked to withdraw from the University.
Thailand
The academic criteria for admission to degree courses for residents of Thailand are based on the satisfactory completion of secondary school and the achievement of the Matriculation Certificate (M6) from an accredited school with a cumulative grade point average equivalent of at least 2.00 in a four-point system.
Admission of Students via High School Equivalency Exams
The university accepts high-school equivalency exams from applicants submitting IGCSE, GCE, GED, or IB official transcript and diploma.
Remarks: The submission of standardized or syndicated examination results such as IGCSE, GCE or GED should be submitted along with evidence of school attendance and the satisfactory completion of the normal required number of years of secondary schooling.

Freshmen Applicants
A freshman applicant must submit the following documents before their application can be processed:

- Original or certified copies of High School certificate of graduation or school leaving certificate indicating the satisfactory completion of secondary or high school from accredited schools/institutions.
- An official (or certified copy) academic transcript for three years including the last year of high school.
- Two Recommendation Forms completed by persons qualified to give information on the applicant’s academic and personal qualifications.
- A recent photograph (white background – applicant wearing a white collared shirt): size 4 cm x 6 cm – 1 photo
- A copy of passport: Personal page information (International applicant)
- Copies of citizenship ID and registration of domicile (Thai applicant)
- A Certificate of English Proficiency*:
– International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0.
– Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500 (paper based), and 61(internet based).
*This English proficiency is considered to be adequate if an applicant’s “mother tongue” is English and/or the applicant has undertaken his/her secondary school studies in English medium for not less than four years. - A valid and current Medical Certificate (issued four days before the intended departure)
- Payment of non-refundable application fee of 300 Thai Baht
Transfer Applicants
A transfer student must submit the required application materials before their application can be processed:
- A fully completed and signed Application Form. The AIU online application is available below this page.
- A certified copy of High School certificate of graduation from accredited schools/institutions.
- Official transcripts from all accredited degree-granting Colleges and Universities previously attended. An academic transcript is covering the entire period spent at university, including the most recent semester or academic term.
- Two recommendation letters.
- A recent photograph (white background – applicant wear a white collared shirt): 4 cm x 6 cm – 1 photo
- A copy of the passport: Personal information page (International applicant).
- Copies of citizenship ID and registration of domicile (Thai applicant).
- A Certificate of English Proficiency*:
– International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0.
– Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500 (paper based), and 61 (internet based).

An applicant wishing to transfer to Asia-Pacific International University from another institution of higher learning should meet the general entrance requirements of the University and present their official transcripts at the time of application.

Financial Clearance
Financial clearance is required from the Student Finance Office for the following:
- Registration at the beginning of each semester and summer session.
- Before a student withdraws from the University.
- Before a degree, diploma, or transcript is issued.
Before a student leaves Asia-Pacific International University, clearance must be obtained from both the Registrar’s Office and the Finance Office. Forms specifically for this purpose are available from the Registrar’s Office.
Refunds
Students withdrawing from one or more courses during the semester may be eligible for refunds according to the following policy.
- 100% of tuition and regular/laboratory fees if withdrawal from one or more courses within two weeks of the commencement of the semester. 75% of tuition and regular/laboratory fees if withdrawing from all courses within two weeks of the commencement of a semester.
- 50% of tuition and regular/laboratory fees if withdrawal is within four weeks of the commencement of the semester.
- Unused dormitory and cafeteria fees may be refunded on a pro-rata basis; however, no partial month refunds will be granted.
- No refund of tuition or fees will be granted for withdrawals that occurs more than four weeks after the commencement of a semester or for withdrawals that are the result of disciplinary action.
- A signed request form or letter from the student and parent/guardian is required to initiate the procedure for any refunds. Requests must be submitted to the Student Finance Officer.
Accounts in Arrears
- If a continuing student owes any debt to the University from a previous semester, he/she will not be allowed to register until the full debt is repaid or satisfactory arrangements for the repayment of the debt have been made and formal financial clearance has been received from the Student Finance Office.
- Approximately two weeks before final examinations each semester, students whose accounts are in arrears must meet with the Student Finance Officer or the Vice President for Financial Administration and settle all outstanding debts with the University.
- Asia-Pacific International University will withhold all transcripts, diplomas, test scores, letters of completion, status letters and other official records until the student’s financial obligations to the University have been met.
- Graduating students must clear their accounts one week before graduation in order to be eligible to take part in graduation ceremonies.
Financial Assistance
The following forms of financial assistance are available to students who meet the necessary eligibility criteria:
- Southeast Asia Union Mission Scholarships. Students from Seventh-day Adventist families who live in the countries of the Southeast Asian Union Mission territory (the countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) are eligible for a scholarship offered by the Southeast Asia Union Mission of SDA. This scholarship meets approximately 10% to 25% of the chargeable expenses. Only full time students are eligible for this scholarship. Other special conditions must be met by students in order to maintain the scholarship on an ongoing basis. Details and application forms are available from your local Mission Office.
- Thailand Government Educational Assistance Loans may be available for Thai nationals who meet the specified criteria. Details and application forms are available from the Student Finance Office.
- Scholarships. A limited number of merit based scholarships may be available each year depending on availability of funding from donors.
- Campus Work-Study Program.
Graduate Studies Program
Admission Criteria
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for the graduate studies program.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education (M Ed program), Business (MBA program), or other field from an accredited institution, with a CGPA of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0.
- Evidence of adequate proficiency in English at a level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 550 (Coursework level) or IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 650 (Thesis level).
- Good health both physically and mentally.
- Good moral character and a willingness to order the student’s life in harmony with the aims, philosophy, and policies of the University.

3. Walk-In Application
On arrival at Asia-Pacific International University, applicants can fill out the application form at the Admissions and Records office and submit along with the required supporting documents and application fee.
Visa Information
Foreign students who wish to study in Thailand are required to apply for Non-Immigrant Education Visa (Non-ED Visa) at a Royal Thai embassy or Consulate, before coming to Thailand. In order to obtain such a visa a student will need a letter of acceptance from the university. Read more about passport and visa requirements on our FAQ (Passport and Visas) page.
Transfer Credits
Transfer Credits from Other Institutions
- Transferred course content must be 75% equivalent to an Asia-Pacific International University (AIU) course which will be substituted.
- Students must provide a catalogue, bulletin, or course outline from the previous college or university for each course they want to transfer.
- Only courses with a minimum grade of “C” may be transferred.
- Transfer credits will be recognized only after the student has completed at least 15 credits with a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- The total transferred credits shall not exceed 75% of the total credits for the degree program.
- To graduate, a transfer student must meet the University’s residence requirements and complete at least 36 credits at AIU, including a minimum of 12 upper division credits in the major field of study and a minimum of 3 upper division credits in the minor field of study.
- The transfer credit fee is 1000 Baht per course.
Transfer of Credits Earned in Another Language
- A maximum of 30 credit-hours may be transferred
- Only courses with a minimum grade of “C” may be transferred
- The transfer credit fee is 1000 Baht per course.
Transfer of Credits from an International Program to a Thai Program
- A minimum grade of “D” was achieved for general education/free elective courses
- A minimum grade of “D+” was achieved for core courses
- Transfer credits are not calculated in a student’s GPA, and shown at end of transcript
- No transfer credit fee is charged
Approval for transfer of these credits is required from the Dean of Faculty, the Registrar, and the Vice-President of Academic Administration.
Note: transferred credits will not be calculated in a student’s GPA, but will be shown at end of the transcript.
