Asia Pacific International University has had a spirit of outreach since its inception. One of its earliest examples is the volunteer camp held annually every December. The Muak lek campus was established in 1988, and only seven years later, in 1995, the university initiated its first Volunteer camp. Since then, there have been 27 camps, and this year will mark the 28th.
The volunteer camp allows APIU students to engage in community service. The event entails a diverse range of services, from construction to teaching. Each year, the students and advisors design the camp’s activities, except the annual Christmas party, which is held for the community serving the camp. Ya’le described the event: “The camp’s purpose is to help those in need, and the goal is to provide as much support as possible to the community.”
Last year’s volunteer camp president stated, “The 27th Volunteer Camp is a testament to God’s amazing providence and goodness. It reminded us never to doubt God’s ability to open doors of opportunity for mission. With God, indeed, all things are possible!” Serving others brings blessings that cannot be compared to anything else. The moment you witness the joy and appreciation of those you serve, an indescribable feeling of fulfillment stirs within you.
This year, the volunteer camp’s mission is to enrich Ban Khaeng School in Ubon, Thailand. The group will be working from December 19th to the 27th to improve the school by renovating and expanding its facilities, including classroom walls, toilet doors, and library ceilings, among other things.
