Another year calls for another round of welcoming new students to our campus. The English International Program (EIP) hosted a Welcome Back party at AIU’s IT building in the IT128 classroom to welcome new and returning students for the 2023-2024 academic year on August 27, 2023. This year, the EIP was delighted to welcome 15 new students from around the world to their department.
To kick off the event, Mr. Joy Kutappan, one of the EIP sponsors, delivered the opening remarks and prayer, setting a positive attitude for the academic year ahead. During the devotional session, the faculty’s Dean, Dr. Jebamani Anthoney, cited the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 12:27 – “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” – to emphasize that EIP is akin to one united family. The event brimmed with warm wishes and gratitude for those who attended, especially after Mrs. Deanna Beryl Majilang’s welcoming remarks, adding a hint of the melancholy of it being the final ‘Welcome Back Party’ for the graduating seniors in this academic year.
A welcoming party would only be complete with introducing the new EIP students to the department. As they introduced themselves, they were greeted with smiles and thoughtful well-wishes from the department’s members and their elder EIP “siblings.” Before everyone enjoyed a scrumptious dinner, EIP Club’s president, Liu Hannie, led a prayer for the food. Hats off to all the teachers and faculty members who meticulously prepared delicious food for the event; it was indeed one of the highlights of the evening!
After a delectable meal, everyone gathered for the fellowship session, where they got to know each other better and enjoyed the remaining time before the party ended. Dr. Nakhon Kitjaroonchai, another of EIP’s sponsors and staff, delivered the closing remarks and prayers. With that, it was a wrap! The event was a success, leaving everyone with satisfied appetites and hearts.
