As 4:00 P.M. rolled around, people clambered to the soccer field on a warm Sunday afternoon of August 25, 2019 to watch a friendly football match between AIU and Stamford International University. Stamford is one of the four International Institution Quality Assurance Network (IQAN) universities that AIU is a part of.
Organized by the AIU Student Council, Stamford was warmly welcomed as the game started. As the teams swiftly maneuvered to score a goal, each minute became an intense race to whom would score the most points. A few injuries ensued, but both teams managed to minimize any risks of serious injuries. Towards the end of the match, Stamford was leading with a 2-1 score. It may have been one game, but both teams have learned lessons from each other and will continue to improve their strategies and gameplay.
Joshua Vernon Minson, AIU Student Council President, expressed that the friendly football match gave a good platform to “build bridges with students in a different environment through a common interest”. He added, “I hope to see more interactions like this. In this way, we will be able to learn from other universities, as well as make ourselves known to them”.
