Collections

Asia-Pacific International University maintains two libraries: the Main Library at the Muak Lek campus and the Faculty of Nursing Library at the Bangkok campus. Together, the libraries hold approximately 60,000 volumes of circulating and reference books, as well as journals in both English and Thai. Of this collection, about 11,000 volumes are housed in the Faculty of Nursing Library in Bangkok.

Heritage Room

The Asia-Pacific International University Heritage Room serves as a repository for a wide range of archival materials collected from three predecessor institutions: Southeast Asia Union College in Singapore, the Nursing College in Bangkok, and Mission College at the Muak Lek campus. These institutions have since merged to form the unified institution known today as Asia-Pacific International University. The Heritage Room is designed to preserve and showcase these historical resources, ensuring they remain accessible for research, education, and the celebration of the university’s rich legacy.

The Heritage Room displays several artifacts. This picture displays the institutional timeline and Presidents of SAUM in Singapore and Nursing College in Bangkok

This picture displays HRH Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen Saddhanarinatha items she used while presiding graduation ceremonies from 1989 to 2018. Institutional timelines and other artifacts are also displayed.

The Heritage Room is also dedicated to preserving publications and materials that document the works and contributions of local missions and missionaries to the church and society within the Southeast Asia Union region. Asia-Pacific International University operates under the umbrella of three administrative entities: the Southeastern Asia Union Mission (SEUM), the Malaysia Union Mission (MAUM), and the Seventh-day Adventist Conference (SAC) of Singapore, which collectively serve the countries of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore. Alumni of the university, as well as missionaries associated with these unions and the conference, are encouraged to support the development of the Heritage Room by contributing photographs, artifacts, manuscripts, and other materials that will serve as valuable resources for future reference.

Location: The Heritage Room is located on the second floor of AIU Library.

Organization of Library Materials

The AIU Library primarily organizes its materials using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system, a structured and widely recognized approach to subject arrangement. In contrast, the Faculty of Nursing Library in Bangkok employs the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classification system, specifically designed for medical and health sciences resources. This combination of classification systems ensures that each library effectively meets the specialized needs of its users while maintaining international cataloging standards.

The content for Reference resources

All English and Thai reference books are located on the ground floor. A significant number of theses and dissertations can also be found on this floor. Please note that reference books are for in-library use only and cannot be checked out.

Integrated Library System

AIU Library utilizes the ALIST Library System to manage and computerize its catalog, ensuring efficient and modern library operations. ALIST is a Thai-developed, bilingual, web-based integrated library system designed to meet the needs of academic institutions. It offers comprehensive modules for cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, serials control, and an online public access catalog (OPAC), all accessible through desktop and mobile platforms. The system was developed under the ThaiLIS network project with support from Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, reflecting strong collaboration and national-level adoption.
