On Thursday, September 20, 2018, more than 93 students were recognized for their academic achievement in the Second Semester of 2017-2018 academic year. The Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony took place at Kiti-Tasanee Auditorium. Certificates of Excellence were presented by the University President, Dr Danny Rantung, to students on both the President’s List and Dean’s List.
Mrs Ritha Maidom, Assistant VP of Academic Administration, expressed, “Every program of study designs its curriculum to produce graduates with certain desired traits such as having a strong grasp of one’s field of study, and being able to use knowledge for problem solving in real life. We want our students to develop these characteristics.”
Mrs Ritha also mentioned that other characteristics, such as being a good team member and being able to work well with others, are also part of the desired characteristics of a good graduate. She added, “While academics is very important, academics by itself is not adequate to make a good graduate. That’s why the student learning outcomes include ethics, moral, interpersonal skills and responsibility. We hope that our students will become graduates who can serve their communities and countries effectively.”
To be on the President’s List, students need to obtain a semester GPA between 3.75 – 4.00. For the Dean’s List, students need to obtain a semester GPA of 3.50 – 3.74. Both President’s and Dean’s listers need to have registered for a minimum of 12 credits and received ‘S’ in the GENL110 Seminar in Character Development.
