Throughout the program, attendees cheered, sang along, and, at times, danced along with the many performances. From the beginning of the program at 5 pm to the end at past 9 pm, the fun and excitement didn’t whittle down.
The Covid-19 pandemic hindered the Cultural Night program in 2022. The program had to be presented online in a new format. This year, however, the Student Council was honored to host the Cultural Night in the Kitti-Tassanee Auditorium with people attending in-person. Students and faculty from different countries shared their unqie cultures. The Cultural Night was an evening to recognize and celebrate diversity at AIU.
On January 22, 2023, performers, teachers, students, and visitors assembled at the auditorium to enjoy a night of music, dance, and culture. Mrs. Deanna Majilang, the emcee, enthusiastically ushered the program. To kick things off, the Student Council performed a dance number.
Following the performance by the SC, 34 pairs for students carrying flags and name plaques walked on stage for the ‘International Parade of Nations.’ The cultural performances followed. Performers from the host country, Thailand, were the first to take the stage. What followed was a night of presentations, performances, songs, and skits from the Chinese, Karen, South Asian, African, Myanmar, Indonesian, Hmong, Filipino, Cambodian, and Malaysian Clubs. Throughout the program, attendees cheered, sang along, and, at times, danced along with the many performances. From the beginning of the program at 5 pm to the end at past 9 pm, the fun and excitement didn’t whittle down.
After the special thanks and closing prayer by Mrs. Ritha Maidom, V.P. for Student Administration, many stayed back to catch photos with their friends and other performers. It has been a while since the last big cultural event like this one, and no one wanted the night to end just yet. As the crowd slowly dispersed, many were already sharing the night’s experience on social media, and some were already looking forward to the next Cultural Show.
