The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) organized a Favorite Poetry Evening on Tuesday evening, October 9, 2018 at the University Church Fellowship Hall. The students of ENGL 332 American Literature and ENGL 337 Asian Literature classes were the organizing committee members for the whole program. “Music of the Soul’ was the theme of the annual poetry recital. Overall, 34 students from different faculties recited poems by famous authors, such as William Shakespeare and Yu Guangzhong.
Jelmie Elden Jose, one of the participants shared, “This program helps me to appreciate poem to the point that I’m scared if poetry will disappear soon. It teaches me that through poems, one can express his or her thoughts. I want the next generation after us to still learn this self-expressing skill.”
One of the project coordinators, Sophia Phan expressed, “This was the best FAH event I’ve ever attended. I think it really helps people to appreciate each other’s creative poems from different countries. Plus, I surely believe that they felt relaxed, calm, and peaceful when listening to all those amazing poems.”
The Favorite Poetry Evening has been going on at Muak Lek campus since 2003, which is about 15 years ago. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities will organize another event celebrating people’s creativity from October 22 to 24, 2018. All are welcome to join this upcoming recital and exhibition.
