The Asia-Pacific International University Church held the annual Bible Camp from February 10 – 12, 2017, at Muak Lek Forest Resort. A total of 110 people (93 students, 11 faculty members, and 6 visitors) attended the weekend Bible Camp. Dr. Sang-Hoon Jee, from the Faculty of Religious Studies, introduced the attendees to the Greek word, “Anastasis” (resurrection), which was the theme of the camp. Participants learned to greet one another in a very interesting way: they high-fived each other and shouted out the camp slogan, “He is Alive, He is Alive, He is Alive.”
The activities of the camp included group Bible studies, worships, team building activities, and a campfire. Participants were blessed by the interactive discussions and biblical-theological search for the evidences of Jesus’ resurrection. Everyone was eager to learn new biblical insights and share what they learned with others.
On Saturday, the attendees enjoyed an afternoon outdoors participating in the team building activities. At sunset, a large camp fire was lit, and they had games in the light of the fire. After the games, each group received a “Khom Loy” (Thai sky lantern). The members wrote prayers on the lanterns, then they lit it up and released it into the sky together with the other groups. Undoubtedly, many students learned about each other through the activities that day.
Dr. Jee said, “It was a tremendous blessing to see the youth gathered together to study the Bible. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has been reaffirmed by our study, and the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus Christ will be guarded by the students who attended the Bible Camp.”
Davied Zebedeus, head coordinator of the camp, said, “With God’s help and grace, we were able to organize a successful event. Seeing the Holy Spirit at work as the students and faculty seek the Truth in the Bible was a blessing. The Bible Camp this year is very special to me.”
The Bible Camp was indeed a successful one. We had lovely accommodations, keen participation from everyone, skillful coordination by the student organizers, full support from faculty members, and rich blessings from our Heavenly Father. We thank everyone – Dr. Jee and his family, the faculty, donors, organizers, and participants – for being a part in making this camp possible. Above all, we thank God for being our Provider for all that we needed. Indeed, the message of Jesus’ resurrection and love will continue to be preached. He is alive! Resurrection! Anastasis!
